Plant molecular taste represents the virtual taste profile resulted from the contribution of all phytotastants - phytocompounds that are taste active - found in a medicinal plant ( Dragos D, Gilca M. J. Ethnopharmacol. 2018; 220:129-146 ). Plant molecular taste is not necessarily the perceived taste. In order to find a plant molecular taste, the user need to upload the composition of that plant (the names of all phytochemicals separated by semicolons, e.g. kaempferol; bergapten; alpha-pinene; (-) epicatechin; chlorogenic acid).
By convention, plant molecular taste representation takes into account each taste contribution calculated as a percentage from the total number of phytotastants present in that plant (or in a specific combination of phytochemicals).
